Review on Rules

by 2 students in Mrs. Polito's reading class.

In reading class we are reading a fantastic book called Rules. This book is about a boy named David who has autism. Autism is a disease where it is hard for that person to understand what is happening. David's older sister Catherine makes all these crazy rules for him because he only likes to obey rules and nothing else. This book is full of humor but it is also sad at the same time. I think that almost everyone in 5th grade would enjoy this fun filled book. Read to see what happens to Catherine, David, and to hear all of the funny but serious rules.

Mrs. Polito's reading class is reading a really nice book called ''Rules''. It's a really nice book because it shows you what life is like with a brother who has autism. Catherine (the main character) is always trying to keep her brother out of trouble. Catherine really just wants a normal life with a best friend. Soon her wish comes true when a family next door move in.....

Find the Face Among the Beans

If you can't find it, I'll give you a hint in a few days! It startled me the second I found it!

Ruby Bridges Movie

Ruby Bridges played an important part in the Civil Rights Movement. Ruby was born September 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi. A year later, her family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. At that time, people wanted to keep blacks and whites separate because whites didn’t think that blacks were as good as them. For example, blacks and whites had separate drinking fountains, blacks had to sit in the back of buses, and blacks and whites each had their own separate schools.

Ruby was a little girl who was one of the first blacks to go to an all white school. Her dad didn’t want her to go to the all-white William Frantz School. He didn’t want any part of the school mixing whites and blacks. He feared that angry people, who wanted to keep blacks and whites separate, would hurt his family if Ruby went to the all-white school.

Ruby’s mom wanted her to go to the all-white school because she wanted her child to have a better education than she did and to have a good job when she grew up. Her mom had such a tough time in her life that she wanted Ruby to have an easier life. Ruby’s mom had to work hard even when she was pregnant. The day before Ruby was born, her mom had to carry ninety pounds of cotton on her back. She knew that if her child went to William Frantz School, Ruby would have a better life.

Written by the first boy selected for the lockers.

Having a locker is great! In the morning, when you put your back-pack away you then get out your math stuff. Then, after math before you're in your homeroom put it away and get your vocab. and reading stuff. Then, for the the rest of the day get what you need when she tells you to and when. If you follow these tips you'll be successful.
